KATHMANDU, JUN 10 - The All Nepal Trade Union Federation, a sister organisation of the UCPN (Maoist), on Sunday reappointed Salikram Jamarkattel as its president.
A meeting of the former central working committee members of the Federation at the party's central office in Paris Danda decided to revive the 93-member committee that had been dissolved about a year ago following dispute among members belonging to three groups led by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice-chairmen Mohan Baidya and Baburam Bhattarai.
After there were no signs of the dispute being resolved, the party leadership had dissolved the CWC of the federation and appointed the party's standing committee member Post Bahadur Bogati as the coordinator of the Fifth National Conference Convenor Committee for the election of a new CWC body.
In a press meet, Jamarkattel said the decision to revive the CWC was taken as the federation was found to be inactive. "As per the advice of the party, we decided to revive the CWC,” he said.
Asked about the date of the next general convention of the federation for the formation of a new CWC, Jamarkattel said they still have one-and-a-half years for that.
